Serious Drawing for Middle School Students
Bruce Bunch
(DRW306) Tuesday, 6 sessions January 10–February 14, 4:00–5:30 pm, GCMA Studio 2, $89

This drawing program is for middle school students who want to develop and strengthen their drawing skills as a foundation for a lifetime of creativity. Students begin in the Museum art studios, working from still life compositions to learn the basic elements of drawing, including line, shape, value, form, composition, and perspective. Then, it’s off to the outdoors to sketch on location. Instructor Bruce Bunch has years of experience working with students of all ages and serves on the Ohio University College of Fine Arts Advisory Board. He is known for his ability to combine an extensive knowledge of art with entertaining methods of teaching. Materials list online.

The Fun of Winter-Themed Art! (Grades K5–5)
Ronda Reynolds-Smith and Cynthia Caraway Hudson
(CRF310) Thursday, 5 sessions January 12–February 9, 4–5:30 pm, new GCMA Youth Studio, $79

Winter is the perfect time to study nature—the leaves are gone, revealing nature’s architecture, and the world is filled with snowflakes and clear blue skies. Each class will take young artists on a fun journey to see the beauty of winter as they paint landscapes, make unique prints, and cut and fold paper into fabulous renditions of winter icons. Instructor Cynthia Hudson, MS, BFA, recently earned her national certification in Art Education. Ronda Reynolds-Smith earned degrees in Art and Art Education from Furman University. Both are long-time members of Museum faculty. Materials included in course fee.

Fantastic Fabric Arts (Grades K5–5)

(CRF311) Thursday, 5 sessions February 16–March 15, 4–5:30 pm, new GCMA Youth Studio, $79 From self-portrait pillows to weavings and radial chromatography designs, fabrics provide a fabulous springboard for learning about color, composition, and texture. Young artists will enjoy and explore the versatility of fabric as they create a fantastic collection of three-dimensional treasures. Materials included in course fee.
